Introduction to Mosaics (beginner)
In this beginner class, you will create a simple mosaic design on a 10” x 10” mirror or on a 6” x 6” flat, wooden board. You will learn to cut tesserae (mosaic pieces), attach them and then grout your finished piece. There is a wide assortment of materials to choose from, including Vitreous glass tiles, smalti, gold, mirror, stained glass, glitter tiles, millefiori, Van Gogh glass, and handmade ceramic pieces. This is a great class for anyone who wants to eventually create all types of mosaics including interior, exterior, architectural or fine-art pieces. Comprehensive resource list that includes places and websites for purchasing various mosaic tools and supplies will be given to students at workshop’s conclusion.

Mosaics (all levels)
This class will accommodate all levels from beginner to advanced. Beginner students will follow the same curriculum as the intro class however this class will be geared towards students with an interest in creating high quality mosaics and for projects that may take longer
than the workshop to actually complete. If you’ve had prior experience, you may bring an idea for a project that you would like to begin working on in this class session. You will have the opportunity to be assisted individually with developing your project throughout these 3 sessions. There will be a deeper study of various design elements, techniques and strategies for creating more complex compositions especially when using a variety of materials. You will also be able to work on your pieces at home in between the weekly sessions with your own tools. Both the ring saw and hammer and hardie will be demonstrated in this class and more experienced students may have the opportunity to work with them during class time for their projects. Various types of stones including marble will be available for this class along with the same assortment of materials as above.
